Obituary of Antonietta Cardillo

Antonietta Gagliardi Cardillo, age 88, of Monroe, beloved wife of the late Agostino Cardillo, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at the Jewish Home for the Elderly with her family by her side. Born on February 4, 1928, in Scauri, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Vincenzo Gagliardi and Maria Tucciarone. Mrs. Cardillo came to the United States in 1987 to reunite with her family and husband, and settled in Bridgeport before becoming a longtime resident of Monroe. She will always be remembered as a kind, humble, and nurturing person. A devout catholic, she had an appreciation for the simple things in life. Among her many interests, Antonietta loved gardening, the outdoors, and cooking. She transmitted her love to her family through her food. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother & great-grandmother, her family will always remember her selflessness and caring personality. Survivors include three loving children, Gino Cardillo and his wife Maria of Monroe, Vincenzo Cardillo and his wife Carol of Fairfield and Maria Giancarli and her husband Vincent of Monroe, a daughter-in-law, Christine Cardillo of Norwich, seven cherished grandchildren, Gino, Andrea, Jessica, Enzo Cardillo, Ivana Giancarli, Daniela and Giulia Cardillo, two adored great grandchildren, J.J. and Alessandra, a sister, Maria DiFava of Italy, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Mario Cardillo and her sister Angela D'Acunto. The family is grateful for the wonderful care she received at the Jewish home for the Elderly and would like to especially thank the nurses and staff of Tandet West. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull and at 10:30 a.m. in Assumption Church, Fairfield for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery, Fairfield. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Wednesday morning from 9:00- 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jewish Home for the Elderly, 175 Jefferson St., Fairfield, CT 06825.
