Obituary of Douglas John Davis

Douglas John Davis age 78, of Bridgeport, beloved husband of the late Rose Vivolo Davis, passed away on Monday, April 4, 2016 at St. Vincent's Medical Center. Born on January 7, 1938, in Bridgeport, he was a son of the late Irene Davis Quintiliano. Before his retirement, Doug was employed as a truck driver with Carolina Freight for 33 years, and had also owned Four Winds Antiques on North Avenue in Bridgeport from the early 70's to the beginning of the 80's. He was a longtime member of Teamsters Union Local 443. In his spare time, he enjoyed riding his Harley, loved antiques and restoring cars. He was an avid gardener who enjoyed nature, and was always known as being a jack of all trades. Douglas was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who will be truly missed by all who knew him. Survivors include his three cherished daughters, Donna Davis of Torrington, Rose Landino and her husband Anthony of New Haven, and Diana Ruggiero and her husband Louis of Hamden, four adored grandchildren, David Anthony Whipple and his wife Kelly, Douglas Robert Whipple, Robert Clayton Whipple, and Juliana Rose Ruggiero, a brother, Frank Quintiliano of Shelton, two brothers-in-law, Joseph Turiano of Fairfield, and Anthony Vivolo of Ft. Lauderdale, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his beloved wife Rose, he was predeceased by his son, Douglas J. Davis, II, brothers, Joseph Mattson, David Mattson, and Michael Quintiliano, and a sister-in-law, Jean Turiano. We would like to thank the entire team at St. Vincent's Medical Center 8th Floor Progressive/ICU Unit for the extended care shown to our father. You guys are angels in disguise. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, April 8, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. directly in St. Andrew Church, 435 Anton St., Bridgeport. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull, CT 06611.
