Obituary of Joan B. Watson

Joan Braunreuther Watson, age 86, of Shelton, beloved wife of the late Robert Beers Watson, passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at Bridgeport Hospital. Born in Brooklyn, New York on September 27, 1929, she was a daughter of the late John and Anna Zimmermann Braunreuther. An avid gardener, Joan was a member of the Nichol's Garden Club. Her faith was extremely important to her and she was proud to have also been a member of the St. Catherine Women's Guild. Above all else however was the importance of her family and spending time with them. She was an extremely devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Survivors include her children, Laura M. Pappas and her husband George of Millbury, MA, Robert J. Watson and his wife Judy of Southlake, TX, Ruth A. Watson of Shelton, CT, Paul D. Watson and his wife Elaine of Stratford, CT, Peter T. Watson and his wife Julie of Williston, VT, Elizabeth T. Roberts and her husband Ken of Jericho, NY and Patricia L. Clyde and her husband Art of Norwood, NJ, a brother, Robert J. Braunreuther, S.J., Fairfield University, a sister, Rita Good of San Diego, CA as well as fifteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was predeceased by two brothers, Richard and Ronnie Braunreuther and a sister, Ruth D'Errico. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 11, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. directly in St. Catherine of Siena Church, 200 Shelton Rd., Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Sunday from 12-4 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Catherine of Siena Church, 200 Shelton Rd., Trumbull, CT 06611.
