Obituary of Maureen E. Burdick

Maureen E. (Murphy) Burdick, age 64, of Trumbull, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 19, 2026 at Bridgeport Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Carl Joseph Burdick. Born in Sellersville, PA on November 21, 1961, she was a daughter of the late Edward Vincent Murphy and Mary T. (Gibbons) Murphy and was a longtime resident of Trumbull.

A graduate of Staples High School in Westport, CT, she then went on to get her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees at Southern Connecticut State University. Maureen was a beloved kindergarten teacher at Miller-Driscoll Elementary School in Wilton, CT, for over 25 years. Her passion and skill for teaching helped shape the lives of countless young students throughout her career.

Maureen was an excellent baker; often making creative and extravagant cakes for birthdays and special occasions, as well as her famous chocolate chip cookies or homemade strawberry jam. Her favorite pastime, though, was spending time with her family. Whether it was a family vacation to Disney, or just playing card games around the kitchen table, being surrounded by the people she loved was always time well spent.

She leaves to cherish her memory her three devoted children, Peter Burdick, Edward Burdick, and Mary Grace Burdick, as well as her precious grandson, Logan Carl Burdick. Maureen is also survived by her five loving brothers and sisters; Ed Murphy and his wife Carol, Ken Murphy and his wife Pam, Kevin Murphy and his wife Janet, Sharon Murphy, and Terri Matsen and her husband Eric, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Christopher Stephen Murphy Burdick, and a brother, Dennis Murphy.

Relatives and friends may greet the family on Friday, July 24, 2026 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. A Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, July 25th at 10:00 a.m. directly in Walnut Hill Community Church, 156 Walnut Hill Rd., Bethel, CT. Interment will follow in Nichols Farm Burial Ground, Trumbull.
