Obituary of Mary-Josephine Battistelli

Mary-Josephine (Dzurik) Battistelli, age 80 of Trumbull, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 26, 2026 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of 52 years to the late James J. Battistelli, Sr. Born in Bridgeport on December 7, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Borona) Dzurik.

Over her career as a secretary Mary-Jo worked at Fairfield University, the Westport Board of Education and finally with the Town of Trumbull where she retired from Tashua School. Mary Jo was very artistic and enjoyed crafting.  She was always there to lend a hand on her boys’ school projects, or could be found making ornaments and decorations for her favorite holidays, Christmas and Halloween. She enjoyed traveling and always talked about her trip to Hawaii and Italy and all the touring she did throughout Europe. Above everything, her greatest joy came from spending time with her family. She was so proud to be a grandmother and cherished every moment spent with Olivia and Reiley. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother and a dear friend to many. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted sons, James J. Battistelli, Jr. (Lisa) of Guilford and Michael Battistelli (Vicki) of Oxford, and her cherished grandchildren, Olivia and Reiley.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 31, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. directly in St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main St., Trumbull. Interment will follow in Nichols Village Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may greet the family on Thursday July 30^th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
