Obituary of Maria G. Scinto
Maria Verrilli Scinto, age 82, of Trumbull, beloved wife of the late Angelo Scinto, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 31, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Castelfranco, Benevento, Italy on September 12, 1943, she was a daughter of the late Antonio and Lucia Verrilli. In 1966 Maria settled in Port Chester and in 1981 she moved to Trumbull, where she has been a resident ever since. She worked as a seamstress at Warnaco for many years before her retirement. Proud of her Italian heritage she loved to cook many of her specialty dishes for her family while entertaining. She was meticulous in the care of her vegetable gardens, which always produced an abundance of fresh vegetables she would share with family and friends. She looked forward to traveling with her husband and enjoyed relaxing on the beach. The values she instilled and the unconditional love and support she gave will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Above all, she was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Maria valued the time she spent with her family, especially with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her loving daughter, Sandra Scinto Reilly and her husband Christopher of Naugatuck, three cherished grandchildren, Samantha Daikus and her husband John, Danielle Grosso and her husband Craig and Christopher Reilly Jr. and his fiancé Julia Wojtczak, her sisters, Emma Sbrocchi and Italia Castagnozzi, as well as several nieces, nephews and many dear friends. In addition to her husband Angelo, she was also predeceased by eight brothers and sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 5, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main St., Trumbull. Entombment will follow in the St. Monica Mausoleum of Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Wednesday morning from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
