Obituary of Richard Milroy

Stratford Resident Richard (Dick) Milroy, age 77, of Stratford, died peacefully on Thursday, September 20, 2007 in Bridgeport Hospital with his loving family by his side, after a short battle with cancer. Born in Bridgeport on November 11, 1929, he was a son of the late Edward and Louise Milroy. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he served with the Army Security Agency during the Berlin Airlift and was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 145, Bridgeport. Dick began his working career with National Cash Register Co. in 1950, and retired as a general manager from Sonitrol Telecommunications. An avid sportsman he was the founder and first President of the Stratford Broncos and served on the National Board of Directors for Pony Baseball for 10 years. He also was an active member in the Stratford PAL for many years and assisted the Stratford Pony League for over 25 years. Richard served on several town Committees for the Town of Stratford, one being the Affordable Housing & Community Development. He was also a member of the Stratford Senior Citizens, AARP and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He was a deeply devoted family man who was dedicated to the love and care of his family and it would be hard to find, a more giving person than our father Richard. He was predeceased by his devoted wife Marylou Burlant Milroy, a brother Bruce and a sister Barbara. Survivors include his two loving children, a son, David Milroy, a daughter, Bonnie McBennett and her husband Patrick, all of Stratford, a cherished granddaughter, Alexia Milroy, his devoted great aunt, Priscilla as well as several nieces and nephews and many dear friends at the Raymond Baldwin Senior Center. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Monday, September 24, 2007 at 9:30 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:30 a.m. in St. James Church, Stratford for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with full military honors will follow in Union Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m
