Obituary of Vincenza Pietrangeli

Vincenza DiCienzo Pietrangeli, age 95, of Trumbull, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 8, 2013 in St. Josephs Manor. Born in the mountain town of Introdacqua, Province of Aquila, Italy, she was a daughter of the late Nicola and Filomena Susi DiCienzo. A retired seamstress, she was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union.

 

Nonnie first came to the United States in 1962 and worked in the garment industry in downtown Bridgeport. She will be most remembered for her love of family. This includes sharing many Italian traditions such as homemade pizzelle, crostada and homemade pasta. She continued to drink at least one glass of wine daily and was known for her vegetable and flower gardens. Nonnie raised her two children by herself; she was known for sharing her ancient proverbs and wisdom freely.

 

Survivors include a son, Jack Pietrangeli and his wife Julie of Bridgeport and a daughter, Carmela Palmieri and her husband Antonio of Trumbull, a sister, Rosina DAndrea of Bridgeport, a brother, Joseph DiCienzo and his wife Francesca of Massachusetts as well as a sister-in-law, Antonietta DiCienzo of Massachusetts; four grandchildren, Marisa Petriello and her husband Kevin, Marcella Hyland, Jeffrey Pietrangeli and Jason Pietrangeli, five great grandchildren, Michaela and Luca Pietrangeli, Bobby and Michael Hyland and Kiera Pietrangeli, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by a brother Feliciano DiCienzo. 

 

Funeral services will take place on Monday, August 12, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Andrew Church, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Sunday from 2-6 p.m.
