Obituary of Alfred J. Recchia
Alfred J. Recchia, Sr., age 89 passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on Saturday, January 29, 2011. Al was born in Bridgeport on April 22, 1921 son of the late Daniel and Jenny Bredice Recchia. He was a Milford resident for most of his life. In the 1930s he sang on the radio for WICC, where he was called The Golden Voice of the Airwaves. He was a proud veteran of WWII, who took part in the invasion of Normandy. Mr. Recchia was a retail clothing store manager with the Anderson Little Company until his retirement in 1986. In addition to his beloved wife, the former Margaret Dennis, survivors include his children, Glenn, Gary, David, Margo, and Al Jr., his daughter in law, Diane Recchia, his loving grand and great grandchildren, his brother Ernest Recchia of Stratford, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Michael, Robert, Daniel and John and his daughter in law, Suzanne Kent Recchia.
Friends are invited to meet directly in St Mary Church, 70 Gulf Street, Milford 06460 on Friday February 4, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Kings Highway Cemetery, Milford. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at The Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
