Obituary of Columbus J. Rossi
U. S. Army Veteran of World War II
Columbus J. Rossi, age 92, of Shelton, beloved husband of Catherine F. DiBlasi Rossi, passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at Griffin Hospital. Born in Derby on October 12, 1919, he was a son of the late Ernest and Raffaele DeDonato Rossi. A U. S. Army Veteran of World War II, he saw fighting in Guam and Okinawa during his 2 1/2 years of service as a member of the 7th anti-aircraft artillery automatic weapons battalion, where he was awarded merits on his many accomplishments. Mr. Rossi was an upholsterer for Brown Brothers Upholstering of Fairfield for many years before his retirement. He was an avid New York Yankee fan, thoroughly enjoyed swimming and gardening and cherished the times he spent traveling to Aruba and Italy. In addition to Catherine, his wife of 65 years, survivors include two daughters, Linda Finocchi and her husband Douglas of Monroe, Deborah Walls and her husband Noel of Newtown, four grandchildren, Michael Finocchi and his wife Elizabeth, Nicholas Finocchi, Jason Walls and Rebecca Walls as well as many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by two brothers, Angelo and Frank Rossi and two sisters, Molly Caserta and Josephine Fraccasia. Funeral Information
Funeral services will take place on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 9:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Lawrence Church, Shelton for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Mountain Grove Cemetery of Easton. Friends may call on Friday from 4-8 p.m. Donations Information
