Obituary of Michael Robert Ryan

Michael Robert Ryan, beloved son of Mark and Joanne Ryan, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, March 6, 2014. Born on August 24, 1980, Michael was a proud graduate of Trumbull High School, class of 2001. He was an avid Giants fan. He enjoyed listening to music, especially the Backstreet Boys, and watching his brothers play baseball. Most recently, Michael attended the Montano Assistive Technology Center, where he would work on voice recognition. He also enjoyed developing his computer skills with his friends from the Kennedy Center. Michael is survived, in addition to his parents, by his devoted brothers and sister-in-law, Stephen and his wife, Kate of Forest Hills, New York, and David of Trumbull, CT; his loving grandparents, Robert and Vivian Ryan of Portland, Maine; and his many, many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Michael was predeceased by his twin brother, Kevin, his maternal grandparents, Matthew and Helen McCarthy, and his cousin, Brian. The family wishes to extend its heartfelt gratitude to so many people who participated in his care, especially his beloved nurses, Harriet Sharpe, Barbara Allen, Nancy Straiton and Shannelle Lee. We are also grateful to the physicians and nurses at Bridgeport Hospital, and the doctors and nurses at Pulmonary and Internal Medicine, especially Dr. John Paul Ayala, for their attentiveness and concern. Michael lived a life of hardship, as a multi-handicapped person, with courage, joy, humor and appreciation. His life was a gift to all of us for a short time. He will be greatly missed.
