Obituary of Mary D. Salce

Mary Mastronardi Salce, age 94, of Bridgeport, entered into eternal rest with her loving and devoted family at her side on Sunday, December 22, 2013. Born in Bridgeport on January 5, 1919, she was a daughter of the late Archangelo and Antonia Trombetta Mastronardi. She was predeceased by her loving and caring husband of 63 years, Joseph G. Salce. Mary was a loving and giving person. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends. She and her husband were great hosts for all who came to their home and together over the years they cared for many children whose parents left them in their care while they worked. She was a volunteer at St. Joseph Manor and managed the gift shop for many years. She loved life and cherished the time she spent with her family. She loved to entertain and she was always ready for fun and song. Survivors include her beloved two daughters, Mary Ann Brunetto and her husband Deacon Don Brunetto of Trumbull and Margaret Arnold and her husband Dr. Ben Arnold of Columbia, Kentucky. She also leaves behind her grandchildren whom she loved so much, David Brunetto and his wife Maritza of Shelton, Justin Brunetto and his wife Elaine of Trumbull, Matthew Arnold of Santa Monica, CA, Rebecca Peralta and her husband William of Ladera Ranch, CA and Elizabeth Rovsek and her husband Christian of Ladera Ranch, CA, her great grandchildren, Ryder Peralta, Gabriella Peralta, Preston Rovsek, and Kingston Rovsek. Mary leaves a brother, Michael Mastronardi and his companion Mia Marks of Bridgeport, two sisters, Carmella Marchetti of Bridgeport and Ann McNeiece of Trumbull, a brother in law, Anthony Salce and his wife Dolly of Trumbull, two sisters in law, Fran Salce of Fairfield and Bea Mastronardi of Trumbull. She was predeceased by her brother, Enrico (Rex) Mastronardi of Trumbull. She was also deeply loved by many nieces and nephews as well as the many children she and her husband Joseph cared for. The family wishes to express our sincere thanks to the Visiting Nurse Services for the sincere and loving care they gave Mary at home. They were like angels coming to her side. Funeral Information Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 9 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull and at 10 a.m. at St. Andrew Church, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment services will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery Mausoluem, Trumbull.
