Obituary of Emily C. Schiappa
Resident of Stratford
Emily C. Mandolfo Schiappa, age 71, of Stratford, loving wife of James L. Schiappa, died peacefully after a long and resilient fight on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at Connecticut Hospice, Branford with her family by her side. Born in Bridgeport on September 18, 1939, she was a daughter of the late Angelo and Palma Paradiso Mandolfo. Mrs. Schiappa was a retired employee of Sikorsky Aircraft. She was a devoted and caring wife, mother, grandmother and sister who was always devoted to the needs of her family and will truly be missed. She was pre-deceased by a son, James L. Schiappa Jr., a sister Concetta Crudo and two brothers, Benjamin Mandolfo and William DeMilt. In addition to James, her devoted husband of 56 years, survivors include two loving children, Susan Schiappa Novak and her husband Steven of Seymour and Michael Schiappa and his wife Donna of Stratford, five cherished grandchildren, James Schiappa III, Steven Jr. and Jake Novak, Halea Trabka and Alyssa Schiappa, a sister, Rosemarie Tombolato of Huntington, three brothers, Joseph Mandolfo and his wife Chris of Melbourne FL, Anthony Mandolfo of Ansonia and Dominic Mandolfo of Stratford as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will take place on Monday, May 2, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Church, Stratford for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may call on Sunday from 2-5 p.m. Donations Information
