Obituary of Quirino Tullio Scialis

Stratford Resident Quirino Tullio Scialis, age 85, of Stratford, died on Saturday, July 18, 2009 in Bridgeport Hospital. Born in Belmonte Calabro, Province of Cosenza, Italy on August 10, 1923, he was a son of the late Michele and AnnaMaria Curcio Scialis. An Italian Army Veteran, he served during World War II. Quirino had a 28 year extensive career at Connecticut National Bank serving in Security Services specializing in fire and theft protection. In his spare time, he also sold vegetables and flowers which he raised at Tony and Theresas Plants of Stratford. His true passions were gardening and being outdoors. Survivors include his beloved wife of 60 years, Theresa Veltri Scialis, a son, John Scialis and wife Linda of Cromwell, two brothers, Renato Scialis and his wife Emma and Maurizio Scialis and Anna Montanaro, all of Milford, two sisters, Olinda Scialis Suriano of Italy and Paola Salati and her husband Antonio of Milford, nieces and nephews, Frank Scialis and Patrizia Scialis of Milford, Renato Scialis and his wife Ayako of Quaker Hill, CT, Raymond Salati and his wife Gabriella and their children Nicole and Antonio, all of Milford, Dario Salati and his wife AnnMarie and their children Dario, Nico and Mattea, all of Orange, Joanne Salati-Rubenstein and her husband, Tom and their children, Caden and Thomas of Milford, Michele Scialis, Roberto Scialis, Anna Maria Scialis, Sandra Scialis, Michele Suriano and Anna Suriano, all of Italy, as well as many additional great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews, both in Connecticut and Italy. He was pre-deceased by a sister Rosina Scialis who died in childhood, a brother Bonaventura Scialis and his wife Sara, brother-in-law Gennaro Suriano and a nephew, Francesco Suriano. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Friday, July 24, 2009 at 9:30 am in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull and 10:30 a.m. in St. James Church, Stratford for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow in the Garden Mausoleum of St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Thursday from 4-8 p.m.
