Obituary of Vincent Spinelli

January 24, 2010 Vincent Paul Spinelli of Trumbull, loving husband of Nina Volpe Spinelli, after a lengthy illness, died at home January 24, surrounded by his family. Mr. Spinelli was born in Bridgeport,CT to the late Joseph and Antoinette Montenaro Spinelli . He was graduated cum laude from Fordham University and served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He also received a degree from the University of Connecticut College of Pharmacy, was a Registered Pharmacist and member of several pharmaceutical organizations. He and his wife, also a pharmacist, were proprietors of the former Hawley Pharmacy. A consulting pharmacist at the Jewish Home for the Elderly, he was recruited by St. Vincents Medical Center as its Director of Pharmacy where he served in that capacity for almost 25 years. A longtime parishioner of St. Theresas Church, Trumbull, he assisted as an usher, taught CCD, volunteered in the Healthcare Ministry and was an enthusiastic member of the St. Theresas Mens Bowling League. He loved to travel, was a talented photographer, and having played trumpet, was an avid music enthusiast. A kind and caring man, he always made those around him feel welcomed. He loved all things family and was appreciated for his wonderful sense of fun, his inquisitive nature, and his sense of calm in any storm. It was a pleasure to be of his acquaintance as he was a true and loyal friend. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Janine Darling (Michael) of Stamford, Elaine Spinelli of Prescott, AZ and Paul Spinelli (Toni Anne) of Redding, his grandchildren, Kyle, Bradley, Nicole and Julia, his sisters-in-law Lola Hudak of Huntington and Annette Tkacs (Michael) of Avon, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also predeceased by his brother Michael and wife Barbara of Boca Raton, FL, in-laws Frank and Nina Volpe of Bridgeport, sister-in-law Hilda Volpe of Bridgeport and brother-in-law, Edward Hudak of Huntington. Though his light no longer shines on earth, surely heaven is the benefit of his brave and resilient spirit. We are glad he is finally at peace but will miss him so very much.
