Obituary of Carol M. Szustak

Carol M. Szustak of Nichols, CT, returned home to her heavenly Father on Saturday, April 20, 2013. Born in Batavia, NY in September of 1939, she moved to Connecticut in 1960. Carol was a resident of Nichols for 50 years. She was predeceased by her parents Fire Captain Loren J. Michel and Ruth D. Michel, and grandson Joshua Szustak. Carol is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of 53 years Leonard, her daughter Michel and husband Col. David Lujan, USAF and granddaughter Bridget, and her son Michael and wife Stephanie and grandchildren Christopher and Katelyn. Carol was an active parishioner of Grace Episcopal Church of Trumbull and served as a Eucharistic Minister, Lay Reader, and Altar Guild member for 50 years, Vestry member, on various Commissions and taught Sunday School. She served on the Board of Directors of the Fairchild Nichols Memorial Library Association. Carol was active in the Trumbull School System PTA and was President of the Nichols Elementary School PTA. She was also an active member of the Trumbull Junior Womens Club. Carol was employed by the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in Batavia, NY and Bridgeport, CT. and from 1984 to 1994 as the Social Director of Independent Living at Carmel Ridge and Teresian Towers of St. Josephs Manor in Trumbull. Carols life centered on God, family and Church. She loved collecting recipes, cooking, baking, flowers, the beach, the ocean, and sunsets. There are no calling hours. Funeral Information A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. in Grace Episcopal Church 5958 Main St. Trumbull, CT.
