Obituary of Anthony J. Bravo, MD
Anthony J. Bravo, M.D., 66, of Fairfield, died on Friday, November 19, 2004 in Bridgeport Hospital. He was the son of the late Dominick and Teresa Bravo. He is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Beverly Ann. Anthony was a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA. He continued his education at Yale University, where he received his medical degree, and was subsequently commissioned into the Army, earning the rank of First Lieutenant before being honorably discharged. After completing a residency in diagnostic radiology at Yale-New Haven Hospital and a research fellowship at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, MD, Anthony joined Bridgeport Radiology Associates in 1970. He remained at Bridgeport Hospital and Bridgeport Radiology Associates until his retirement in 1998, serving as Chairman of the Department of Radiology at Bridgeport Hospital from 1980 to 1993. Anthonys keen interest in anthropology and radiology led to his second career at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, CT, where he became Medical Director of the Diagnostic Imaging Program at the Bioanthropology Research Institute. Anthony had a lifelong interest in opera, and was an enthusiastic patron of Lincoln Center in Manhattan. He was an avid reader and horticulturist, as well as a passionate traveler. He had a great love for his family and friends, and he will be especially remembered for the generosity and kindness he extended to so many people during his lifetime.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Stephen M. Bravo, M.D. and his wife Catherine Turnes-Bravo, of Windermere, FL; his son Anthony J. Bravo, Jr. and his wife Dawn Lerman-Bravo, of Englewood, NJ; and his daughter Michelle A. Bravo-Ibanez and her husband Baltazar, of Easton, CT. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Teresa, Maria, and Anthony Bravo of Windermere, FL; and Christopher and Giavanna Ibanez of Easton, CT.
Friends may call on Monday, November 22, 2004 from 4 to 8 PM at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. Funeral services will be held Directly at St. Pius X Church, 835 Brookside Drive in Fairfield on Tuesday, November 23, 2004 at 11 AM. Entombment will follow in The Oak Lawn Cemetery Mausoleum, Fairfield.
