Obituary of Thomas A. Trotta

Thomas A. Trotta, 70, of Trumbull and Ormond Beach, FL, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on May 22, 2007 at the hospice in Flagler Beach, FL. Born in Bridgeport on December 11, 1936, Tom was the son of the late Angelo Trotta, and is survived by his mother, Elizabeth. He was the beloved husband of the former Barbara Perchaluk. His love, passion and enthusiasm for life were exceeded only by the love, passion and enthusiasm he had for his wife, children and grandchildren. After an extremely successful and distinguished 46 year career with the Southern Connecticut Gas Company, Tom retired as senior vice president, Connecticut Energy Corporation, and executive vice president and chief operating officer of the Southern Connecticut Gas Company. Tom joined Southern Connecticut Gas in 1954 and after a two-year military stint with the 18th Airborne Corps in 1956, he rejoined the company. In 1970, he became a service supervisor; in 1979, he became superintendent of the service department; in 1983, he was made Director of energy services; in 1983, he was promoted to Director of all marketing and sales. In 1988, Tom was elected assistant vice president of operations, and the following year he was appointed vice president of sales and customer service. In 1990, he became vice president of operations, and in 1991, he was appointed senior vice president of operations. In 1992, he was appointed senior vice president and chief operating officer, and in 1995 he was appointed executive vice president and chief operating officer. Tom was a member of the American Gas Association and the New England Gas Association. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Greater Bridgeport Symphony Orchestra, and served as a Fire Commissioner of the Long Hill Fire District, Trumbull, CT. He attended Sacred Heart University.

Tom is also survived by his children, Thomas and Sandy Trotta, Mark and Kim Trotta, Michael and Carol Trotta, Robert and Carolyn Trotta, and Liza and Dan Disisto, and ten grandchildren. 

Funeral services will take place on Saturday, May 26, 2007 at 8:00 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 9:00 a.m. in St. Theresa Church, Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may call on Friday from 4-8 p.m.
