Obituary of Richard A. Wade

Richard A. Wade, age 74, of Trumbull, beloved husband of Mary OLeary Wade, died on Sunday, October 30, 2005 in Bridgeport Hospital following a valiant battle with cancer. Born in Brooklyn, New York on July 24, 1931, he was the son of Harriet Muller Primrose of Jericho, Long Island, New York and the late Edward Wade. He earned an A. S. Degree from Farmingdale University. Mr. Wade was a 1st lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force, serving during the Korean War where he received a Commendation Ribbon and a National Defense Service Medal as well as other medals and ribbons. He flew helicopters for New York Airways, was a Union Representative and a member of ALPA. He became a commercial airline pilot flying for United Airlines for 30 years, during which time he was hijacked to Cuba. He enjoyed wintering in Florida with his family and took great pride in participating in the 28 year old family football pool and was the reigning champion.

In addition to his wife and mother, survivors include four children, Richard Wade and his wife, Laurie of Shelton, Virginia Chaverri and her husband, Tony of Seymour, Susan Laskos and her husband, Steve of Burlington and Debbie Fowler and her husband, Dave of Cheshire, a sister, Cathy Haave of Massapequa Park, Long Island, eleven grandchildren, Shannon and Ryan Wade, Jennifer, Timmy and Patrick Chaverri, Alyssa, Aaron and Amber Laskos and Wade, Troy and Bradley Fowler as well as several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by two brothers and a sister. The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to the Registered Nurses of Bridgeport Hospital 7th floor for the devoted care that they provided. 

Friends are invited to meet directly in Christ the King Church, 4700 Madison Ave., Trumbull on Friday, November 4, 2005 at 9:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with full military honors will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 3:30-7:30 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
