Obituary of Vincent R. Carey

Vincent Robert Carey, age 23, of Oxford, passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2014. Born in Bridgeport on August 30, 1990, he was the son of Daniel and Gloria Ovens Carey. Vinnie was a graduate of Masuk High School in Monroe and Keene State University in Keene, NH, where he was president of his Fraternity Sigma PI. He was currently working in the family business as a Service Manager at Careys Appliance Service. Vinnie enjoyed snowboarding, snowmobiling, playing the guitar and the trumpet. He was active in the Shakespeare Footlight Theatre and acted in many plays while in elementary school. Throughout high school he played on the football team, was in the school band and homecoming king. For many years he was involved in the St. Thomas the Apostle Work Camp. Vincent touched many people and was well liked by all who knew him. He had a smile that could light up a room and make you laugh. In addition to his parents, survivors include his maternal grandparents, Robert and Lee Merola Ovens of Bridgeport, his paternal grandmother, Barbara Jordan Carey, aunts and uncles, Robert D. Ovens, Jr., Sharon Colling and her husband Howard, Colleen Garland and her husband Rusty, Patrick and Nancy Carey, cousins, Stephanie Ovens, Robert D. Ovens, III and his wife Heather, Sarah Pavone and her fiance Robert DiMaio, Liam DiMaio, Chelsea Garland, Matthew Chirico, Zane and Christopher Carey as well as many other aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Robert J. Carey. Funeral Information Friends are invited to meet directly in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 733 Oxford Rd., Oxford, on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at The Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
