Obituary of Teresa Carpenter

November 20, 2007 Resident of Stratford Teresa (Terry) ODonovan Carpenter, age 81, of Stratford, beloved wife of 53 years of the late William D. Carpenter passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 20, 2007 at Lord Chamberlain Health Care. She was born in Bridgeport on December 4, 1925. Orphaned at the age of 16, she was the daughter of Patrick and Margaret Farrelly ODonovan. Mrs. Carpenter graduated with her R.N. from St. Vincents School of Nursing in 1946 and Sacred Heart University with a B.S. in Psychology in 1980. She was a school nurse and later a Nursing Supervisor in the Public Health Department for the City of Bridgeport from 1955 to 1989. Mrs. Carpenter was an accomplished pianist and had obtained her State of Connecticut Real Estate License. She was a member of Psi Chi, the National Honor Society in Psychology, the Gaelic American Club, the Ancient Order of Hibernians, the Lions Club, the Oronoque Fun Seekers Club and the Oronoque Singers Club. She was also a volunteer at St. Vincents Hospital Short Stay. Terry radiated joy and love of life to all who encountered her. In addition to a brilliant intellect, she genuinely had care and compassion as she reached out to others. She was a wonderful and devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend who will be deeply missed. Survivors include two daughters, Colleen Rowe of Stratford and Ann Margaret Kearney and her husband Ken of Stratford, six grandchildren, Maura C. Hegley and her husband Michael of Trumbull, T.R. Rowe and his wife Michelle of Trumbull, Douglas Rowe and his wife Bernadette of Syracuse, NY, Brian, Meghan and Brittany Kearney of Stratford, seven great grandchildren, Martha, Maeve and Michael Hegley, Joseph and James Rowe and Agnes and Mary Rowe, several nieces and nephews, beloved friend, Howard Cooke. Although Terry never had a sister of her own, she leaves behind her dear friend Noreen Simms. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Saturday, November 24, 2007 at 9:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mark Church, Stratford for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull.
