Obituary of Philomena Cassidy

Philomena Petitte Cassidy, age 97, of Monroe and formerly of Bridgeport, beloved wife of the late Stephen P. Cassidy Sr., died on Monday, October 21, 2013 in Lord Chamberlain with her family by her side. Born in Bridgeport on September 11, 1916, she was a daughter of the late Pasquale and Genevieve Cavaliere Petitte. Along with her late husband, she was the former owner and operator of Cassidys Package Store and Joes Diner. She was a devoted parishioner of St. Augustines Cathedral for many years. Survivors include a son, Robert Cassidy Jr. and his wife Mary Jane of North Carolina, a sister, Virginia Mucci of Fort Pierce, FL, a sister-in-law, Jennie Ruggiero of Delaware, 16 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, 11 great great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by a son and his wife, Stephen P. Jr. and Patricia Cassidy, a daughter and her husband, Loretta and Carl Walser, two granddaughters, Patricia and Philomena Cassidy, two brothers, Joseph Petitte and John Ruggiero and a sister, Julia Staren. The family would like to thank the staff at Lord Chamberlain for the excellent and loving care they provided and also to her dear friend Mary Walser Haynes who helped care for Philomena. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 8:30 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 9:30 a.m. in St. Augustines Cathedral, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Friday from 4-8 p.m. Donations Information In lieu of flowers, donations in Philomenas honor may be made to the charity of ones choice.
