Obituary of Norma J. Chmielewski

Norma (Elliott) Chmielewski, age 79, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 after a long, courageous battle with cancer. She was born on August 29, 1933 in Montoursville, PA to the late Guy and Hazel (Springman) Elliott. She has resided in Trumbull since 1944, attended Trumbull elementary schools and graduated from Bassick High School. Upon graduation, she was employed as the first Trumbull Public Schools secretary to Trumbulls first Superintendent of Schools. Over a 32 year period of employment, she was also secretary to the Easton/Redding Superintendent of Schools and eventually returned to Trumbull and worked until her retirement from Madison Middle School. During her retirement, she enjoyed spending time with all her many local friends, along with friends at the lake house in MA. She also enjoyed reading, crocheting, Sudoku and crossword puzzles. She is survived by her beloved husband, Anthony Chmielewski of 59 years, a son, Steven (Maeci) Chmielewski, a daughter, Susan (Bruce) Collins, four grandchildren, Sara and Dana Chmielewski and Daniel and Jennifer Collins, a brother-in-law, Henry Mileski, sisters-in-law, Helen Reed and Elaine Mileski and brother-in-law, Clarence Heimann, along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and cherished life-long friends. Her family wishes to thank Dr. Dhanjal and nurses at St. Vincents 9 South Oncology for their devoted care. Also, eternal gratitude to family, friends and clergy for the magnitude of support throughout her illness. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in Christ the King Church, Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Normas life. Entombment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull.
