Obituary of Robert T. Chop

Robert T. Chop, age 63, of Derby, passed away suddenly on Friday, July 20, 2007. Born in Bridgeport on January 5, 1944, he was a son of Sally Yish Chop of Bridgeport and the late Frank Chop. A U.S. Air Force veteran, he was a field engineer for the Alfa Laval Co. with over 30 years of service. Bob enjoyed taking care of his yard and was an avid golfer. His greatest enjoyment came when he was working the sideline chains at his son David's high school football games. He took great pride and joy in watching his son play football. Bob was a member of the Notre Dame High School Booster Club and along with his wife they received the 2007 Parents Award from Notre Dame.

In addition to his mother, survivors include his devoted wife of 22 years, Donna DelGais Chop, three children, David Chop of Derby, Robert Chop and his wife Melissa of Ansonia, Susan Deacutis and her husband Jim of Courtland Manor NY, a brother, Frank Chop and his wife Barbara of Stratford, two sisters, Sally Ann Pazsak and her husband Al of Milford, Beverly Birch and her husband Michael of Seymour, his mother in law Nellie DelGais of Bridgeport, brothers in law Michael DelGais and his wife Elaine of Monroe and Richard DelGais and his wife Holly of Milford, several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. directly in St. Michael the Archangel Church, 75 Derby Ave., Derby for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with full military honors will follow in the Mt. St. Peters Cemetery, Derby. Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. 

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to a scholarship fund to benefit his son.
