Obituary of Mary Cody

Resident of Shelton Mary Tomlinson Cody, age 93, of Shelton, beloved wife of the late Francis P. Cody Sr., died peacefully on Wednesday, July 4, 2012 surrounded by her loving family in Bridgeport Hospital. Born on December 29, 1918 in Bridgeton Glasgow, Scotland, she was a daughter of the late William and Jessie Jack Tomlinson. Mary was a retired operator for Southern New England Telephone Co. with over 25 years of service and was a life member of the Eastern Star Azalia Chapter #2. An avid crafter, she enjoyed ceramics and crocheting afghans, which she often shared with her family. She especially enjoyed making christening outfits for many of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. But above all she was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who enjoyed time spent with her family and will be deeply missed. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a son, William T. (Tom) Cody, a daughter, Jessie Cody Wilkinson; three brothers, Thomas, William and Archie Tomlinson and a sister, Ruby Winter. Survivors include four loving children, Francis P. Cody Jr., and his wife Kathy of Bridgeport, Richard Cody and his wife Nancy of Stratford, Bonnie Flanigan and her husband Thomas of Seymour and Laurie Yarrish and her husband Anthony of Shelton, two sisters-in-law, Marion Tomlinson of Fairfield and Murial Tomlinson of Shelton; 16 cherished grandchildren, Trish Beneway, Mark Cody, James and Michael Cody, Cynthia Webb, Kristen Crider, Craig and Todd Cody, Megan Bedell, Scott Flanigan, Kari Glidden, Adam and Sarah Wilkinson and Kelsey, Caitlin and Cody Yarrish; 20 great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at 8:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull and at 9:00 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, Shelton for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in the Lakeview Cemetery, Bridgeport. Relatives and friends may call on Friday from 4-8 p.m.
