Obituary of Virginia Lee Kohl Collinge

Virginia Lee Kohl Collinge, age 79, of Trumbull, passed away on November 16, 2012, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Kenneth S. Collinge. Born in Buffalo, New York, on May 23, 1933, Virginia was the daughter of the late Charles G. and Clara Traylor Kohl. Ginny grew up in New Jersey before attending The New Jersey State Teachers College, now William Patterson University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Education degree. Ginny taught the first grade in Alpine, New Jersey, for a short time before joining her husband who was serving in the Army. A lifetime Methodist, she was an active member of the Nichols United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. For over ten years she taught young children in the Mothers Day Out Program of the Nichols United Methodist Church. Besides family her interests were collecting music boxes, kaleidoscopes, antique trunks, dolls and especially miniature figures and furniture for the three story doll house that her husband made for her. Above all, however, Ginny was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who took great pride in her family and their care. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. In addition to her beloved husband of 57 years, other survivors include her four children; Charles A. Chuck Collinge of Ansonia, Scott A. Collinge and his wife Mary of Chandler, Arizona, Bonnie C. Rankin and her husband Kenneth of Alpharetta, Georgia, and Mark A. Collinge and his wife Lisa of Danbury; twelve grandchildren, Charles, John, Eve, Alicia, Kevin, Chelsea, Amy, Missy, Kelly, Shawn, Daniel and Katie. She is also survived by her step-brother, Philip LoBue of Montville, New Jersey. Funeral Information A Memorial Service celebrating Ginnys life will take place at 11:00 am, Saturday, December 29, 2012, in Nichols United Methodist Church, 35 Shelton Road, Trumbull. Interment of her ashes at the Nichols United Methodist Church Memorial Garden will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Donations Information In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Nichols United Methodist Church for the Mothers Day Out Program that Ginny loved and cared for so deeply.
