Obituary of Anne E. Damato

The Cookie Lady Anne E. Testani Damato, The Cookie Lady, of Annes Eastside Bakery to three generations of lawyers, judges, doctors, teachers, plumbers, mechanics, and just plain folks, rejoined her husband, Alex J. (Ken) Damato, the man who was the one love of her life, on September 23, 2006 at the Jewish Home for the Elderly in Fairfield. The unofficial Mayor of the Eastside during her bakery years, Anne touched innumerable souls with her humor, compassion and love. The epitome of selflessness, she gave herself to any and all who were lost, suffering, or just in need of a friend. At peace in the loving arms of Our Lord, she is reunited at last with he adored husband of 58 years, Alex, as well as her loving brothers, Sam, Rocky and Ben Testani, and her loving sister, Louise DiJulio. She was also pre-deceased by her beloved in laws Dominic, Nicholas (Biff), Joseph, Peter and Catherine Damato. She is survived by her loving son, Kenneth Damato and his wife, Lynn, of Huntington, her adoring daughter, Marianne Damato Van Zandt and her husband Ron of Trumbull, and her adopted daughter, Leslie Maxson of Easton. Most especially, she is survived by her treasured granddaughters, Meghan Pastor Van Zandt and Catherine Damato. She also leaves her loved sister in laws, Peg and Betty Damato, Renee Testani and many beloved nieces and nephews. Her children would like to extend a special thanks to the extraordinary staff of Kuriansky 2 of the Jewish Home for the Elderly for their dignity, compassion and love with which their mother was treated during the closing chapter of her life. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, September 26, 2006 at 9 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10 a.m. in Holy Rosary Church, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow in the Garden Mausoleum of St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford.
