Obituary of Francis F. Ference

Francis F. (Sonny; Little) Ference, age 74, formerly of Bridgeport, transitioned to Eternal Life on Saturday, March 29, 2014 with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Margaret Varga Ference for 53 years. Born in Scranton, PA on September 24, 1939, he was the son of the late George and Mary Vikara Ference, immigrants from Czechoslovakia. A U.S. Marine Corps Veteran, Frank was a City of Bridgeport Firefighter for 15 years and later the co-owner of Stop & Save Warehouse Liquors. He attended Bullard Havens HS and earned a degree from Housatonic CC. He was an avid golfer and member of the Whitney Farms Mens Club. His family and friends adored his boundless wit and storytelling. He was a lover of reading, history and "economic" pursuits. Additional survivors include daughters, Colette Buckles and husband Tom of Ansonia, Mary Wolpiuk and husband Stan of Trumbull and Stacey Ference and husband Tony Delos of Derby, grandchildren, Thomas Buckles, Stacy Wilkins and husband Jim, Michelle Alonzo and husband Edward, Danielle Thibodeau, Thomas Thibodeau, Emily, Stanley & Abigail Wolpiuk and Tennyson Delos. Also brother, Edward Ference and sister, Margaret Kozlak, both of CA. He is survived by six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by siblings, George, John, Michael and Andrew Ference, Mary Haug, Anne Sheftz, and Irene Lisko. Frank also received tender care by CT Hospice. Funeral Information Funeral services take place on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Rosary Church, Ansonia, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Mount St. Peters Cemetery, Derby. Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
