Obituary of Steven E. Balgach

August 20, 2007 Steven Edwin Balgach, of Shelton, died on Monday, August 20, 2007 following a long illness with his loving family by his side. Born in Bridgeport, he was a son of the late Martin and Theresa Fotivec Balgach and a U. S. Army veteran. He was a retired educator with over 40 years of service to the City of Bridgeport and opened Read Middle School, which was Bridgeports first middle school. He was an active member of the Greater Bridgeport Retired Teachers Association where he previously served as president. In addition to his parents, he is also pre-deceased by a sister, Theresa Hall. Survivors include his wife, Nancy Mainiero Balgach, a daughter Lauren Sandor and her husband Timothy of Cheshire, son Martin Balgach and his wife Lisa of Lafayette, Colorado, a brother, Louis and his wife Vicenta of Fairfield and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Thursday, August 23, 2007 at 9:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Lawrence Church, Shelton for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment with military honors will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull.
