Obituary of Grace A. Montanaro

Grace Gagliardi Montanaro, age 98, of Southbury and formerly of Bridgeport, beloved wife of the late Anthony T. Montanaro, died peacefully on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at Masonicare of Newtown. Born in Bridgeport on February 17, 1916, she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Mary Bracca Gagliardi. Grace was a former crossing guard for the City of Bridgeport Police Department for 22 years. Along with her husband, they enjoyed assisting the St. Raphaels Drum and Bugle Corp. Grace was a loving mother and aunt and will be deeply missed. She was predeceased by a daughter, Wilma M. Tribble, brothers, William and Emil Gagliardi and three sisters, Mildred Marzullo, Eleanor DiPronio and Mary Dana Caputo. Survivors include a loving daughter, Rachel Dryden of Southbury and many cherished nieces and nephews. Funeral services will take place on Monday, April 21, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may call on Monday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
