Obituary of Fred Allen Jr.

Fred Allen, Jr., age 85, of Monroe passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at Bridgeport Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Beatrice Wynn Allen. Born in Anderson, SC, on July 28, 1928, he was the son of the late Fred and Snowbird Williford Allen, Sr.

Mr. Allen had been employed as a Plant Manager for General Electric in Bridgeport, before his retirement after many years of dedicated service. He was an avid golfer and also found great enjoyment woodworking. Fred’s greatest pleasure in life however was found in the time he spent with his family, especially his granddaughter.

In addition to his beloved wife Beatrice, survivors include his children, Wayne Allen, Terri Allen and Tracy Allen, all of Monroe, his beloved granddaughter, Thomese, a sister-in-law, Lillian Scott and a brother-in-law, George Wynn and his wife Clarice all of Maryland. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews as well as a host of cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. Interment with full military honors will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Bridgeport. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
