Obituary of Mary F. Williamson

Mary Frances Williamson, 80, a longtime resident of Trumbull, died May 8, 2014. She was born to the late Francis and Bridget Gorman on November 22, 1933, in New York, NY. Mary graduated from Bridgeport's Harding High School in 1951, received a B.A. in Education from New Haven State Teachers College in 1955, and an M.A. from Fairfield University in 1958. Mary was a teacher at Jane Ryan Elementary School in Trumbull from 1955 to 1963. While on sabbatical, she taught the 1959 school year at the U.S. Army Dependents School in Aschaffenburg, Germany. During that time she spent school breaks traveling throughout Europe, and fell in love with John D. Williamson who was serving as First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army while stationed in Aschaffenburg. They married in 1962 and enjoyed 51 years as husband and wife. Mary was a Master Gardener, Landscape Design and Gardening Consultant, and an active member of the Long Hill Garden Club. She was also a member of the Fairfield County Sports Car Club, supporting her husband's and son's love of autocross. Mary is survived by her husband John; son David Williamson of Trumbull; daughter Dr. Clare Williamson, son-in-law David Montgomery, and grandson Quinn Montgomery all of Fort Worth, TX; and brother Dr. Michael Gorman of Trumbull. Prayer services will take place on Thursday May 15, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Relatives and friends can greet the family on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 from 4-8 p.m. in the funeral home.
