Obituary of Mary Louise Toomey

Mary Louise Toomey, age 90, of Trumbull, beloved mother of Patricia Toomey and Pamela Reeves, passed away on Mother’s Day, May 11, 2014. Mary Toomey was born in Colver, Pennsylvania and was a Trumbull resident for 63 years. She worked at General Electric and Read’s department store for many years and was a parishioner of St. Theresa’s Church, Trumbull. Mary enjoyed travelling and took many European tours with her husband in their retirement years. She took great delight in shopping, knitting and crocheting. Mary was an excellent cook and baker, a love of which was instilled in both of her daughters. Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend; her independence, spirit and vibrancy will be incredibly missed. Her foremost passion was to do everything she could to make her families’ life better. Her grandchildren were the light of her life. She is survived by her two devoted daughters and their spouses: Patricia Anne Toomey and Karl-Dietrich Sievert of Germany and Pamela and Patrick Reeves of Madison, Connecticut; four cherished grandchildren who loved and adored her, Gavin Thomas Reeves, Emma Margaret Reeves, Aileen Catherine Reeves and Alexander Thomas Sievert. She is predeceased by her husband, Thomas Joseph Toomey. A memorial mass celebrating her life will take place on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. in St. Margaret’s Roman Catholic Church, 24 Academy Street, Madison, CT. Inurnment will take place on Thursday May 15, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Stratford, where she will be buried with her husband. There are no calling hours. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
