Obituary of Edward A. Callo

Edward A. Callo, age 84, beloved husband of Marion D'Andrea Callo, entered into eternal peace on Monday, June 9, 2014. Ed was born in The Bronx, NY on May 21, 1930, son of the late Edward Sr. and Wanda Callo. Ed served in the U. S. Marine Corps with the Air Transport Squadron where his love of flying took off. Ed also had a love for cars, new and vintage. He was one of the MG Car Club's faithful, having driven the same 1947 MG TC since 1955. He enjoyed vintage racing both his TC's. Ed loved to travel and had visited all fifty states as well as seven continents but also loved spending time at home with his family. He had been employed as an engineer at both American Machine & Foundry and Crawford & Russell before founding RECON International Inc. in 1981. Ed continued to serve as Director of RECON after his retirement. He was a 53 year resident of Monroe who was a longtime member and past Chairman of the Monroe Town Committee, Chairman of the Monroe Elementary School Reconstruction Committee and a serving Justice of the Peace. He also enjoyed his years as an active member of the local American Legion Post 176. Ed was a longtime and loyal parishioner of St. Stephen Church. Ed is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marion, and his eight children, Lynda Callo (Southington), Edward Callo III (Huntington), Rodger Callo and wife Courtney (Manchester, VT), Dr. Vincent Lyon-Callo and his wife Sarah (Okemos, MI), Andrea Castillo and husband Frank (Pepperelle, MA), Paul Callo and wife Erin (Woodinville, WA), Richard Callo and wife Ona (New Haven), Maria Stiefel and husband Dr. Kyle (Cape May, NJ), along with sister, Wanda Tiernan. He was predeceased by his brother, Peter Callo. Edward leaves behind his fourteen grandchildren: Erik, Emily, Julia, Petra, Alina, Tobias, Isabella, Amanda, Dominick, Mary, Soren, Sophia, Silas and Olivia.
