Obituary of Thomas G. Sansonetti

Thomas G. Sansonetti, Sr. age 80, of Stratford, beloved husband of Rose Gambardella Sansonetti passed away suddenly at his home on July 26, 2014. Born in Bridgeport on March 28, 1934, he was a son of the late John and Bertha Sansonetti. He was a retired employee of the United Illuminating Company Line Department with over 39 years of dedicated service. Mr. Sansonetti was a lifelong Bridgeport resident before moving to Stratford in 1993. He was a graduate of Central High School and lifelong parishioner at St. Patrick's Church. Thomas was a 4th Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus, Msgr. Murphy Council #4716. He was an active member of the Home School Association at St. Patrick's and was well known for his breathtaking flower displays at the church. But above all, he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, who treasured time spent with his immediate family, extended family and friends. He especially enjoyed taking his family to Shea Stadium for Met games and hosting large family gatherings at his home for the holidays. His never ending positive disposition was an inspiration to everyone who knew him. In addition to his wife Rose of 51 years, survivors include three sons, John Sansonetti and his wife Grace of Newtown, Thomas Sansonetti Jr. and his wife Lorie of Bridgeport and James Sansonetti and his wife Andrea of Black Rock, two sisters, Janet Rossi and her husband Andy of Boca Raton, FL and Dolores Sansonetti of Milford, four grandchildren, Juliana, Luke, Gianna and James and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by a brother, John R. Sansonetti and a sister Bertha Gombos. Friends are invited to meet directly in St. Patrick's Church, 851 North Ave., Bridgeport on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at The Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Ann Academy in Black Rock, in care of the funeral home.
