Obituary of Giglia T. Franzese

Giglia "Nonnie" Vaser Franzese, age 91, of Bridgeport, beloved wife of the late Frank J. Franzese, died peacefully on Friday, September 5, 2014, at her home surrounded by her family. Born in Pavone Canavese, Province of Torino, Italy on March 4, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Maurizio and Rosa Ciochetta Vaser. While living in Italy Giglia worked for the Olivetti Typewriter Company then after coming to the United States she was a seamstress for many years and enjoyed making clothing for her family and friends. Survivors include two loving daughters, Rosemary Dobosz of Trumbull and Joanne Kilgore and her husband Kevyn of Milford, five cherished grandchildren, Lori Chisarik and her husband Stephen, Christine Hall and her husband Thomas, Michael Dobosz and his wife Collette, Kevyn F. Kilgore and his fiancé Brittany Hicks and Kristopher Kilgore, seven adored great grandchildren, Emily, Kaitlyn, Lauren, Tyler, Brendan, Shane and Aislyn. She was predeceased by a son-in-law, Walter G. Dobosz. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Tina Riccio who was a loving companion and caregiver to Giglia as well as the care provided by Lisa, Liz and Sharon. A special thanks also to the staff at Connecticut Hospice for their compassion and care. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Andrew's Church, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 2075 Silas Deane Highway, Suite 100 Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
