Obituary of Carmelo Joseph Pagano
Carmelo Joseph Pagano, age 81, of Monroe, beloved husband of Italia DelCegno Pagano, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 14, 2014 at St. Vincent's Medical Center, with his loving family by his side. Born on March 23, 1933 in Graniti, Province of Messina, Sicily, Italy, he came to the United States as a youth before settling in Bridgeport. He was a son of the late Peter and Carmella Messina Pagano. Joe was a retired machinist from Heim Bearing/RBC, with 35 years of dedicated service. He enjoyed his workouts at the YMCA of Trumbull, was a devoted New York Yankees and New York Jets fan and also enjoyed boxing. Above all things however, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who cared for and loved his family deeply. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his beloved wife of 57 years, Italia, other survivors include his loving children, Peter Pagano of Bethel and Tina Marie Palumbo and her husband Todd of Southport, two cherished granddaughters, Brittany Fleisch and her husband Ian and Alyssa Pagano, an adored great granddaughter, Harper Fleisch, a sister, Maryann Passe and her husband William of Trumbull, a sister-in-law, Marlane Pagano of Stratford, as well as many other brothers and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Anthony Pagano.
Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. directly in St. Margaret's Shrine, 2523 Park Ave., Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial.
