Obituary of Joan Marie Nobriga

Joan Marie Killelea Nobriga, age 82, of Trumbull and formerly of Bridgeport, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 3, 2014 at Connecticut Hospice, Branford. Born in Bridgeport on March 2, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Ralph M. and Elizabeth Gaffney Killelea. Joan was a retired educator for the City of Bridgeport Board of Education. She worked for many years in the school system, where she took great pride and joy in assisting the children she taught. Joan was the Principal of four schools which included Edison School, Madison School, Wheeler School and she retired as the Principal of Columbus School. Joan was also President of The Board of Education and was a member of the Greater Bridgeport Retired Teachers Association. She was an avid fan of The UCONN Girls Basketball Team and would not miss a game. She loved to take daily walks around Seaside Park with her friends. A memorial service celebrating her life will take place on Friday November 7, 2014 from 4-6 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. Interment will take place in St. Leo Cemetery, Leominster, MA. A prayer service will take place on Friday at 5:30 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
