Obituary of John Vito Mirto
John Vito Mirto, age 61, of Shelton, passed away at home on Monday, November 24, 2014. Born in Bridgeport on August 14, 1953, he was a son of the late Matthew and Anna (Dragone) Mirto Sr.
John was a 1971 graduate of Bunnell High School, where he was captain of both the football and baseball teams. He was an avid New York Yankees fan, enjoyed his trips to the casino and playing Bingo at St. James Church.
Survivors include his loving brother, Matthew Mirto Jr. and devoted sister-in-law, Lorraine of Shelton, nephew, Matthew Mirto III and his wife Jennifer, a niece, Wendy Ann Hiltz and her husband Michael, a great niece and nephews, Matthew and Jack Mirto and Peter and Sarah Hiltz, all of whom he shared a very close relationship with, two special uncles, Joe and Vito Dragone of Uniontown, PA and a special aunt, Pat Torreso of Stratford as well as many cousins. He also leaves a close friend, Bob Dattilo and family. The family would like to thank Dr. Zuckerman, Dr. Hughs and Dr. Tortorello for their kindness and dedicated care.
Friends are invited to meet directly in St. James Church, 2110 Main St., Stratford on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Lawn Cemetery, Shelton. Family and friends may call on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at The Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
