Obituary of Philip F.T. Pacelli Jr.

Philip F.T. Pacelli, Jr., age 85, of Shelton, devoted husband of Arminda Capela Pacelli, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at his home with his loving family by his side. Born in Bridgeport on March 21, 1929 he was a son of the late Philip F.T. Pacelli Sr., and Adeline Pinto Pacelli. Philip was a graduate of Central High School Class of 1947 and was a member of the National Guard. Along with his brothers, he operated the former Pacelli's Bakery in Bridgeport for many years. He was a very hard working man who had a work ethic like no other. Throughout his years at work he mentored many people and enjoyed the many friendships he made along the way. He always wanted the best for everyone and he taught that through hard work and dedication anything can be achieved. But above all in life, nothing was more important to him than his family. He put their needs first and foremost before anything. The accomplishments of his children could often be found on the wall at work for all to see, watching his grandchildren grow and seeing their achievements were some of the proudest moments of his life. Phil had a great sense of humor and a flair for storytelling. He enjoyed golfing and was a member of the Mill River Country Club, Central High School Reunion Committee and the Nutmeg Baker's Association. Phil enjoyed the many mornings he had breakfast with the "Old Timers" he graduated with from Shelton Grammar School in Bridgeport. He truly was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. His hard working ethic and strong will and love of family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will truly be missed by all. He was predeceased by his first wife, Norma Camerota Pacelli, two brothers, Frank and Louis Pacelli and a sister, Josephine Goneconto. In addition to his devoted wife of 14 years, Mindy, survivors include three loving children, Alanna Pacelli and her husband George LeMoine of Trumbull, Dr. Philip F.T. Pacelli, III and his wife Mary of New Canaan and Holly Ambrose of Millis, MA, seven cherished grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Philip F.T., IV and Ashley Pacelli, Michael J. Ambrose V and Weston Philip Ambrose and Whitney and Geoffrey LeMoine, sisters, Erminia Lovanio of Fairfield and Carol Cerulo and her husband Michael of Trumbull and a sister-in-law, Rosalie Pacelli of Hamden. He also leaves to cherish his memory his mother-in-law, Mariana Capela of Bridgeport, brothers and sisters-in-law, John Capela and his wife Betsy of Derby, Mario Capela of Oxford, Amandio Capela and his wife Alzira of Huntington, Antonio Capela and his wife Maria of Monroe, Joe Capela and his wife Michele of Woodbridge, Luis Capela and his wife Nicole of Shelton, Celeste Mendes and her husband Luis of Monroe, Marie Capela-Campos and her husband Ernando of Monroe and Susie Capela-Castro and her husband William of Pelham, NY, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, godchildren and many dear friends. The family would thank the nurses and staff at DaVita Clinic in Bridgeport for their care, especially Liz, and the nurses of Vitas Hospice for their compassionate care. Friends are invited to meet directly in St. Lawrence Church, 505 Shelton Rd., Shelton, on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at 11 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Monroe. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
