Our condolences to the family. John was a special man and a dear friend of our Dad, Ken Knoernschild. In Ken's later years, he valued John's friendship, sharing rounds of golf at Tashua Knolls, and the Monday and Thursday "Coffee Get-togethers" at Duchess. John was the closest friend Ken had in the years before he passed away in 2012. Our whole family will always be grateful to John for convincing Ken to attend the memorial service for our Mom, Micki. Dad didn't listen to any of us about this, but he did listen to John! We know you will miss John, but also know that he will be missed by so many others whose lives he touched.

Big John.... When we count our blessings we will always count you twice. You have been a neighbor, a friend, a father, a grandfather, an advisor, a story teller and so much more. We will love and miss you every day. Being part of your life was a gift. Shirley is happy to be with you again. The boys want to plant a tomato garden for you. I'm not quite there yet... Someday. What do I say about my uncle who was a wild and crazy guy before Steve Martin ever thought of being one. The bluefish......the dog with the vertical leap...debasing color TV to my Dad when John had one in his house already (and swearing me to secrecy when I found out)...sunken garden barbeques...just plain fun. And of course all the Polack jokes.... Green side up, Uncle John. Love ya

Didn't meet John until July 1994 when we moved to Trumbull . . . he was 70, I was 32 . . . and our first daughter was not quite 9 months old. So many memories during those 21 years. Such wonderful neighbors both, John & Shirley. Most people should be so lucky when moving into a new town. My most sincere thoughts with his entire family . . . thanks for sharing him with us. Most especially this last year. He will be missed, but certainly not forgotten. - DanL
