Obituary of Arnold T. Appleby

Arnold T. Appleby, age 71, of Trumbull, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at St. Vincent's Medical Center. Born in Bridgeport on February 22, 1944, he was the son to the late George A. Jr. and Mildred Ware Appleby. Arnold was a dedicated employee of Sikorsky Aircraft, climbing the ranks to Operations Manager and working on Black Hawk and Comanche Programs; he retired not long ago after 48 years of service. Born and raised on the east end side of Bridgeport, he attended Harding High School, and remained a long time Bridgeport resident. He was an active member and coach of the North End Little League, holding multiple positions on the various committees, including the board. He enjoyed all sports but most importantly baseball, bowling, boxing and football; a passionate fan of the Green Bay Packers. Arnold loved to help others and always offered to give back in any way he could, even if it was just to put a smile on your face with a joke. As many knew him as "Arnie", for years you could find him on Saturdays having lunch with family and friends as he helped make sandwiches in the kitchen at Testo's Restaurant in Bridgeport. He was a dedicated father, proud grandfather, and a loyal friend, who will be missed by everyone who knew him. Survivors include two loving sons, Frank T. Appleby Sr., and his wife Lynn of Bridgeport, and Scott T. Appleby and his wife Kristi of Monroe, along with their mother Marie Ruggiero Appleby of Milford, two cherished grandchildren, Frank T. Appleby Jr. and his companion Stephanie, and Michael Appleby; he was expecting his third grandson in July. He also leaves to cherish his memory, a devoted brother George A. Appleby III and his partner Paul Kuehn of Hamden, three nieces Lisa Sadowski, Ericka Nacinovich and Heather Appleby, a goddaughter Heather Overton, a sister-in-law Arlene Appleby as well as many dear cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his brother James Appleby. Relatives and friends can greet the family on Sunday, June 7, 2015 from 1-5 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. A prayer service will take place on Monday June 8, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Swim Across the Sound c/o St. Vincent's Medical Center Foundation, 2800 Main St., Bridgeport, CT 06606.
