Obituary of Anthony Rago

Anthony Rago, age 95, of Trumbull, beloved husband of the late Florence Feola Rago, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 5, 2015 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Born in Bridgeport on December 23, 1919, he was a son of the late Leopold and Elvira Martinelli Rago. Mr. Rago was a U.S. Army veteran, who proudly served his country during World War II. Upon his honorable discharge, Anthony returned home and while looking for employment at the former John Romano Salon saw the beautiful Florence Feola. It was love at first sight and they were married on Thanksgiving Day, November 11, 1948. Together they worked at the Fairlawn Beauty Salon of Stamford for many years and together they retired as the owner and operators of The Escape Salon of Darien. Anthony was an avid Yankee fan and enjoyed tending to his home and spending time in his garden. Above all else however, he was a loving and dedicated father and grandfather who will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Survivors include three loving children, Dr. Thomas Rago and his companion Karen Moffatt of Easton, James Rago of Wallingford and Donna Quinzi and her husband Michael of Rochester, NY, eight grandchildren, Alyssa, Matthew, Christopher, Jason and Allison Rago and David, Brianna and Steven Quinzi, former daughter-in-law, Sherry Rago and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by two brothers, Michael and Nicholas Rago and two sisters, Constance Martin and Aurora Mardozian. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. directly in St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main St., Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with full military honors will follow in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Monday from 4-8 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
