Obituary of Edite Gomes

Edite Pereira Gomes, age 75, of Shelton, beloved wife of Arnaldo C. Gomes, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at St. Joseph's Manor. Born on February 23, 1940, in Maços, Portugal, she was a daughter of the late Candido and Candida Pereira. Edite was a retired employee of Savoy Linen and Dooney & Bourke. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who cared deeply for her family. She enjoyed time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, and the love and memories they shared will continue to live on in their hearts. Edite will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her. In addition to her beloved husband of 51 years, Arnaldo, survivors include two loving sons, Luis Gomes and his wife Maria Fatima and Arnaldo Gomes and his wife Maria, all of Shelton, four cherished grandchildren, Allison, Luie, Kyle and Luke, two brothers, Armando and Candido Pereira, both of Portugal, four sisters, Maria Augusta Barreira of Trumbull, Esmeralda Moreiras of Trumbull, Fernanda Pereira of Trumbull, and Saozinha Sequeira of Portugal, sisters-in-law, Laura Pereira and Maria Pereira, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by a sister, Maria Eugenia Almeida and two brothers, Acaçio and Jose Pereira. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m.
