Obituary of Fernando "Ferdy Rod" Rodrigues

Fernando (Ferdy Rod) Rodrigues, age 57, of Shelton, beloved husband of Roseann Pires Rodrigues, passed away suddenly on Thursday, September 17, 2015 with his family by his side. Born in Negroes, Portugal on October 15, 1957, he was a son of the late Jaime and Luisa Dias Rodrigues and was raised in Bridgeport. He was the owner and operator of Car Time Used Cars of Bridgeport. Ferdy was a member of the Shriners Car Club and enjoyed muscle cars and riding his motorcycle. He enjoyed sharing a funny story or joke and loved to make people happy. Ferdy is loved by his large family and friends who will miss him very much. Above all, what he cherished most was the time he spent with his wife and children. He will be remembered for his big heart and for his love of life. In addition to his wife Roseann, survivors include his son David Rodrigues and daughter Melissa Rodrigues, his brothers and sisters, Arminda Pereira and her husband Ilidio of Florida, Manuel Rodrigues and his wife Carol of Bridgeport, Antonio Rodrigues and his longtime partner Barbara Griffin of Bridgeport and Maria Vaz and husband Domingos of Shelton, mother- and father-in-law, Fred and Ann Pires, brother-in-law, Fred Pires of Bridgeport as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and many cousins and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Domingos Dias and Augie Rodrigues. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 11:00 a.m. in St. Lawrence Church, Shelton for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Monroe. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Monday from 4-8 p.m.
