Obituary of Antoinette Malfettone Tate

Antoinette Malfettone Tate, age 99, born on February 11th, 1916 in Harlem, NY died on September 19th, 2015 at the Jewish Home in Fairfield, CT. After Harlem, she grew up in the Bronx and then relocated to Mt. Vernon, where she bore her only child, John Philip Malfettone. Later in life she lived in Old Saybrook, CT, St. Petersburg, Florida and Trumbull, CT. She was an incredible cook who was the lead chef at a family restaurant in Mt.Vernon and gained notoriety for her afternoon buffet dinners at the Embassy Lounge, the family tavern on Broadway in Manhattan. She was pre-deceased by her husbands, Phillip Malfettone and Jack Tate; her mom, Albina, dad, Valentine, brothers, Joe and Mike Cassotta, sister, Enie and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her son, John Philip Malfettone, surviving Antoinette are her daughter in law, Rina Morgia Malfettone and grandchildren, John James, Michael Phillip, Joseph Thomas, Marissa Ann and Matthew Anthony Malfettone . She will be forever remembered for her loving, caring ways and her world class cooking skills. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 11:00 a.m. in St. Theresa Church, Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m.
