Obituary of Josephine T. Monaco

Josephine T. Cennamo Monaco, age 86, of Stratford, beloved wife of Joseph F. Monaco, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 9, 2015 at St. Vincent's Medical Center with her loving family by her side. Born in Bridgeport on July 24, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Gilda Remo Cennamo. She was a graduate of Central High School, the University of Bridgeport and St. Vincent's School of Nursing. After 28 years as a dedicated Registered Nurse, Josephine retired after having worked for St. Vincent's Medical Center, City of Bridgeport Public Health Department and the University of Bridgeport. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening and tending to her flowers. She loved to cook for her family, especially using the vegetables from her garden, but most of all she treasured the time that was spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. Josephine was at her happiest when her family was all together. She will truly be missed by all. In addition to her beloved husband of 58 years, Joseph, survivors include four loving children, Lisa Monaco and her husband Michael Vinci Jr. of Naugatuck, Joseph Monaco and his wife Colleen of San Diego, CA, Lori Lisi and her husband Mario of Stratford and Tina Johnson and her husband Robert of Alvord, TX, six cherished grandchildren, Corey and Joseph Dlugos, Joseph and Jacob Monaco and Joshua and Maria Lisi, a sister, Gilda Palatiello of Trumbull, sister-in-law, Marge Cennamo of Stratford, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings and their spouses, Mary and Ernest Alterio, Jack and Irene Cennamo, Gerald and Cecilia Cennamo, Nicholas Cennamo, Ralph and Ann Cennamo and Gerard Cennamo. Friends are invited to meet directly in St. Mark's Church, 500 Wigwam Lane, Stratford on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Monroe. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at The Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 38 Richards Ave, Norwalk, CT 06854.
