Obituary of Sultan Temelsiz

Sultan Tekiroglu Temelsiz, age 87, of Stratford, beloved wife of the late Avedis Temelsiz, passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 in Fairview of Fairfield. Sultan was born in Istanbul, Turkey on November 1, 1927. As a young girl she dreamed of going to school and was proud to accomplish her dreams being one of very few females that could attend school. She came to the United States in 1981 and became a citizen in 1987. She attended school in the U.S. and began a longtime career at the Area Agency for the Aging in Bridgeport. She retired in 1995 to care for her granddaughter. In 1998, she shared the responsibility of caring for her grandson. Sultan was a dedicated member of the Armenian Church of the Holy Ascension who loved her faith and the country of Armenia. Survivors include two sons, Alex Temelsiz and his wife Carol and John Temelsiz, all of Stratford, a daughter, Anayis Tilkici of Fethiye, Turkey, four grandchildren, Jacquelyn and Alexander Temelsiz of Stratford and Aydin and Nursultan Tilkici of Fethiye, Turkey. In addition to her husband, she was pre-deceased by her son, Paul and several brothers and sisters. Funeral services will take place on Monday, October 19, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. directly in the Armenian Church of the Holy Ascension, 1460 Huntington Turnpike, Trumbull. Interment will follow in Park Cemetery, Bridgeport. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Sunday from 1-5 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. A wake service will take place on Sunday at 4:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
