Obituary of Liberata C. Posca

Liberata Concetta Posca, age 99, longtime resident of Bridgeport, beloved wife of the late Umberto Posca, passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born on April 18, 1916 in Isca Sul Ionio, Province of Catenzaro, Calabria, Italy, she was a daughter of the late Saverio and Barbararosa Scicchitano. Liberata came to the United States in 1958 and worked at Savoy Laundry, the Paneteri Clothing Factory, and the City of Bridgeport, where she retired at East Side Middle School. She enjoyed spending her spare time gardening, cooking, baking, and sewing, but above all, her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Survivors include her three loving children, Maria Cirilo of Bridgeport, Celeste Camagna and her husband Gaetano of Monroe, and Antonio Posca and his wife Concetta of Ansonia; eight cherished grandchildren, Rose Mannino and her husband Francesco, Linda Simon and her husband David, Anthony Posca, Silvia Rodrigues and her husband Michael, Vera Gilberti and her husband Michael, Liberata Maldonado, Umberto Posca, and Lisa Camagna; thirteen beloved great grandchildren, Yvette, Michael, Antonino, Francesco, Jallisa, David, Brendon, Umberto, Jr., Nicolino, Alexandria, Edwin, Anthony, and Gianna and a sister, Francesca Scicchitano of Italy as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Liberata is predeceased by a great great grandson, Anthony Posca Jr., brothers, Antonio and Marsile Scicchitano, sisters, Vittoria Scicchitano, Teresa Greco, and Maria Anania, and a son-in-law, Dolores Cirilo. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Pasquale Masone, and Kathy Flores and her daughter, Sarita Flores for all their care and compassion. Friends are invited to meet directly in St. Patrick Church, 851 North Ave., Bridgeport on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Garden Mausoleum, Stratford. Family and friends may call on Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at The Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
