Obituary of Kenneth S. Kubel Sr.

Kenneth S. Kubel, Sr., age 73, of Milford, passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2016 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford with his loving family by his side. Born in Bridgeport on July 17, 1942, he was a son of the late Stanley and Anna Piekutowski Kubel. Ken graduated from Bullard Havens Technical High School and went on to serve in the United States Army. Before his retirement in 1989 he was a 20 year veteran police officer with the City of Bridgeport serving with the K-9 unit along with his dogs Duke and Max. He was also employed at Milford Jai Alai, University of Bridgeport and Remington Shaver before going on to work as a security officer at Jewish Senior Services in Fairfield for 20 years before retiring in 2014. The family would like to thank the staff at Connecticut Hospice for all the care and compassion that was extended to Ken. Survivors include a son, Kenneth Kubel, Jr. and his wife Ann of Fairfield, daughters, Kathleen Lambert and her husband Terrence of Seymour and Shelley Bertothy and her husband Ernie of Bridgeport, seven grandchildren, Kristina Sands and her husband Kevin, Kenneth, Matthew and Arleigh Kubel, Brooke, Leo and Alexa Lambert and a great granddaughter, Karleigh Sands as well as several cousins. He was predeceased by a brother, Richard Kubel. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. Interment will be private. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT 06405.
